Manfrotto is a leading brand in camera lighting supports, tripods systems, and camera bags. The company is established in Cassola Italy and is currently owned by the Vitec Group. The original designs of the company’s camera and lighting supports systems were designed by Lino Manfrotto an Italian designer and reporter.
At that time the market was saturated with a large number of lighting manufacturers but not many companies worked on support systems. This despite the fact that these were important requirements for the photography industry.
Manfrotto collaborated with Gilberto Battocchio who worked with the Bassano mechanical firm and they collaborated together to launch the first Manfrotto tripod in 1974. Manfrotto was later on acquired by Vitec Group which also acquired Gitzo and Bogen, two companies which also had a similar product portfolio. The three companies, however, continued to be marketed separately.
