Skylum (formerly Macphun) is a software company based in the US and known for its photo-editing software like:
- Aurora HDR and
Skylum is also the creator of:
- Noiseless and
- FX Photo Studio;
Back in 2008, Macphun was established by two enthusiastic photographers and professional gaming developers. They quickly became quite successful in what they set out to do.
One of their very first products was Vintagio which was a vintage video maker. The product was a success with even Apple naming it as one of the best iPhone apps of 2009.
Skylum’s greatest success came, however, in photo applications. Though they started out originally for the iPhone platform, they then started working on the MacOS platform followed by their entry into Windows. They even partnered with Trey Ratcliff (Stuck in Customs) to launch Aurora HDR.
Later in 2016, they launched a full-fledged photo editing application namely Luminar, which was aimed to be a replacement for Lightroom.
