This red haired young lady was inspired by the memory of my Grandmother, who in 1914 worked in service for the Trevellyn family and the Claverings as lowly kitchen maid. Born in 1900 in the tightest oppressive class system. She was impressed by the footman to believe herself to be as equal and worthy of respect as those she served. Rather than curtsying and stepping aside for the arrogant wealthy. The footman gave her courage to hold her head high and just keep walking.
