📖 Overview

The Ricoh GR IV HDF is the built-in Highlight Diffusion Filter variant of Ricoh's 2026 flagship street-photography compact, announced December 2025 and shipping late January 2026. It shares the GR IV platform — a 25.74MP BSI APS-C sensor, fixed 18.3mm f/2.8 GR lens (28mm equivalent), 5-axis in-body Shake Reduction rated at 6 stops, and hybrid phase/contrast autofocus — but adds a defining optical layer: an in-camera Highlight Diffusion Filter that softens highlights for a hazy, film-like look. Unlike an ND filter, HDF is a subtle highlight-only diffusion that leaves midtones and shadows unchanged. The camera stays firmly a stills-first tool: Full HD 1080/60p is the maximum video ceiling (no 4K), the ISO range runs from 100 to 204,800, and the body remains pocketable at 262g with battery in a 109.4 x 61.1 x 32.7mm shell. There is no viewfinder — composition is via the 3.0-inch touchscreen — and CIPA battery life is rated around 250 shots per charge.
