Sony Corporation is a Japanese multinational company producing a large number of consumer electronic products including but not limited to digital cameras and camera lenses.
Sony manufactures an array of point and shoot as well as interchangeable lens cameras. Its point and shoot system cameras carry the brand name Cyber-shot while the interchangeable lens line carries the brand name Alpha.
Cyber-shot cameras had been proven successful till the advent of smartphone cameras and the surge towards cheaper interchangeable lens systems (entry level DSLRs).
Its recent offerings such as the a7R III and the a7S II have been popular because of their high resolution and low light performance respectively.
Sony also produces some of the most well-known imaging sensors in the photography industry namely Exmor and BIONZ. Till date, Sony enjoys a position of privilege as the third largest camera manufacturing company in the world after Canon and Nikon.
