With digital photography becoming increasingly easy and more and more people documenting their travels and sharing them on social media, travel photography as a genre is flourishing. It has never been a better time to become a travel photographer.
But is travel photography all about shooting architecture and landscapes in a different land? Not quite.
Travel photography encompasses something more. It is about documenting the culture, the people, the food and the fashion, among other things of the place you are visiting.
Travel photography as a genre combines techniques across different other genres of photography including but not limited to landscape, street, portrait, and architecture. It involves sometimes a documentary style, at other times requiring the patience and perseverance of a landscape photographer, while at other times using the perfection usually associated with an architecture photographer.
Travel photographers too, tend to specialize in different aspects of the genre, choosing to shoot specific topics.
