DxO has announced PureRAW 6 at CP+ 2026 in Yokohama, Japan, bringing significant upgrades to its dedicated RAW processing tool. The announcement, first reported by DC.watch, was made on February 26 at the company’s Stand 62 in Pacifico Yokohama, with live demos available starting February 27.
PureRAW has carved out a unique niche as a preprocessing tool that sits between your camera’s RAW files and your preferred editor — whether that’s Lightroom, Capture One, or any other DAM. Version 6 introduces four headline features that address real pain points for working photographers: broader DeepPRIME XD3 support, dramatically smaller output files, automated dust removal, and faster batch processing.
DeepPRIME XD3 Expands to Bayer Sensors
The biggest news in PureRAW 6 is that DeepPRIME XD3 — DxO’s most advanced noise reduction engine — now supports Bayer sensors. Previously, XD3 was exclusive to Fujifilm’s X-Trans sensor architecture. Since the vast majority of cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, and other manufacturers use Bayer sensors, this single change massively expands the number of photographers who can access DxO’s best denoising technology.
DxO says XD3 delivers improved speed and image quality compared to the previous DeepPRIME XD2 engine. For photographers shooting in challenging light — wildlife, events, astrophotography, indoor sports — this is a meaningful upgrade.
Hi-Fi DNG Compression Slashes File Sizes
PureRAW outputs Linear DNG files, which are fully editable in any RAW editor but notoriously large. PureRAW 6 introduces Hi-Fi DNG compression that dramatically reduces file sizes with virtually no quality loss in highlights or shadows.
DC.watch tested the feature and reported striking results: a 24.9 MB RAW file processed with DeepPRIME XD3 produced a 64.5 MB uncompressed DNG — but with Hi-Fi compression enabled, the output was just 14.4 MB. That’s a 77% reduction in file size, which is a game-changer for photographers managing large libraries or shooting high-volume events.
AI Dust Removal (Local Processing)
Sensor dust is an inevitable nuisance, especially for photographers who frequently swap lenses. PureRAW 6 adds AI-powered dust spot detection and removal that runs entirely on your local machine — no cloud processing required. According to DxO, the feature takes just a few seconds depending on the number of dust spots and sensitivity settings.
This is a welcome addition to the preprocessing pipeline. Rather than manually spotting dust in Lightroom or Photoshop after the fact, PureRAW 6 can handle dust removal automatically before your files even reach your editor.
Faster Batch Processing
DxO has parallelized the processing pipeline in PureRAW 6, enabling faster batch processing of multiple files. For photographers who routinely run hundreds or thousands of RAW files through PureRAW after a shoot, any speed improvement in the queue translates directly to time saved.
Pricing and Availability
DxO has not yet announced pricing for PureRAW 6. For reference, PureRAW 5 is currently priced at €119.99 for a new license and €79.99 for an upgrade. DxO uses a perpetual license model — you buy it once and own it — with no recurring subscription fees.
Why This Matters
The timing of this announcement is notable. Topaz Labs, DxO’s main competitor in dedicated noise reduction, switched Topaz Photo AI to a subscription-only model at $399 per year — a move that frustrated many photographers. DxO’s commitment to perpetual licensing makes PureRAW an increasingly attractive alternative for those who prefer to own their software outright.
Meanwhile, Adobe Lightroom has added built-in AI denoise, but it’s part of Adobe’s subscription ecosystem and generally considered a step behind dedicated tools like PureRAW in raw output quality. With XD3 now available for Bayer sensors, DxO is positioning PureRAW 6 as the go-to noise reduction solution for the widest possible range of cameras — all without requiring a subscription.
