Photography Workshop & Travel

As photography becomes a more popular pastime, more and more people are choosing to go on photography holidays and tours, or spend time at a photography workshop away from their home town. If you are interested in spending your free time at a photography workshop or on a special photography holiday, then check out the list below to read about some of the best that the world has to offer.

Best for Singles – UK

The Yorkshire Dales Photography and Walking Weekend trip which is organised by Ventura Holidays is a great way to see the Yorkshire Dales (UK) and meet likeminded people. Ventura Holidays specialises in trip and tours for solo travellers, so they are great places to meet people who share your passions. This holiday includes short guided walks in a group and one-to-ones on photography discussions. The Yorkshire Dales have recently been recognised as one of 2014's top ten regions and visitors will be pleased with the photo opportunities which are available, whatever the weather.

Best for Jazzy Photographers – USA

Run by local photographer, Tyrone Turner, the New Orleans photography four day course is run in connection with National Geographic Magazine.  The course gives budding photographers the opportunity to test their skills in a bustling urban environment. Although this photography workshop follows an itinerary which takes in all of the best spots in New Orleans, it is designed to allow participants the opportunity to take advantage of spontaneous photo opportunities.

Best for Responsible Photographers – Asia

The Cambodia Photography Holiday is run by a professional photographer, in conjunction with local guides. As well as being offered photography tips by an expert, the guides will take you to places which are off the usual tourist trail. Much of your itinerary will have been designed to help to benefit the local people and support the local economy, Group sizes are always kept low, so that everyone is able to take full advantage of the support on offer, and so that the group does not have an adverse influence on the localities that they visit.

Best for Wildlife Photography – Africa

World Expedition's African Wildlife Photo Safari trip is one of the best trips available for those who want to be able to photograph native African wildlife from close range. The trip takes tourists around prime shooting locations in the Great Rift Valley, including many world-renowned areas of the Serengeti National Park. Although it is impossible to guarantee which animals you will spot along the way, the guides will take you to plenty of stunning locations which animals are known to frequent. The whole trip includes approximately 14 days onsite, and guests will be able to get plenty of advice from professional wildlife photographer Alex Cearns along the way.

We hope you found one photography workshop which interests you. Going on a international tour with your camera is a great way to learn about photography and visit some new and exciting places at the same time!
